Existing Summit users can upgrade to this release for free. The updated servers can be found at: Linux DX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/linux/desktop/ Linux LX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/linux/laptop/ Linux MX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/linux/multihead/ Linux WX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/linux/workstation/ Solaris DX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/solaris/desktop/ Solaris LX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/solaris/laptop/ Solaris MX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/solaris/multihead/ Solaris WX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/solaris/workstation/ The following is a snippet from the release notes describing new support, enhanced support and bug fixes present in this release: 2.2-8 12/18/2002 [2.2.2-13/2.2.2-07 (2.2-8)] - New Support Matrox G450 MMS (MX) Fujitsu S-6010 laptop (LX) - fixed problems with G200 MMS cards that prevented DFP from working properly, as well as a failure to be able to configure more than one head. - Fixed a problem with the RENDER extension after using OpenGL on Matrox cards (which do RENDER in hardware). - fixed problem with X11 DBE extension and BackingStore - RENDER formats are no longer available in PseudoColor visuals (including Overlay planes). This avoids having RENDER eat up valuable color cells in 8bpp, while still allowing anti-alised fonts in the 24bpp image plane. A potential problem is if you are using a PsuedoColor visual as the default visual, and you are using gnome. Gnome has a bug, whereby it will try to use RENDER formats even if none are available (as will be the case in a PsuedoColor visual). So, do not use gnome if you have selected an 8bpp visual as the default - at least until gnome fixes this particular bug. - added code to blank screen on startup and unblank after initialization is complete. This avoids seeing garbage during initialization. - fixed a bug in DFP timing logic. - fixes to turn off backlight when DPMS enabled on i830, and ATI based laptops. - corrected problem with the GVX210/GVX420 in DualView mode that caused the second head to be setup incorrectly. - fixed problem with updates of fog color in color index mode. - Solaris 9 (Intel) support. Requires latest xsvc kernel driver (3.0-39 or above). - I/O subsystem - corrected bug on Wacom Intuos tablets that made pen buttons mostly useless if PRESSUREBUTTON was enabled. - pressure button threshold for tablets now defaults to 100, instead of 0. - support for Synaptics touchpad controllers in native mode. Tap and TapDrag gestures are supported. There are 2 Synaptics selections available in Xsetup now - one with Tap gestures enabled, and another with all Tap gestures disabled. The scroll buttons (if present) are also supported. Tested on Sager 8880 Laptop. - performance enhancements that improve packet throughput. - For CUSTOM/OEM server releases only: - Added support for Fujitsu Input Devices (FID) hybrid touchscreen/mouse controllers - Added support for USAR ScreenCoder II touchscreen/mouse hybrid controllers Thank you for choosing Accelerated X!
