The following is a snippet from the release notes describing new support, enhanced support and bug fixes present in this release.
- correct issue in internal allocator seen on RH FC3 and RHEL 4.0 that could cause graphical Xsetup to hang with a blank screen when started.
Also, internal allocator will set errno to ENOMEM on an allocation failure as some glibc implementations expect.
- add Xorg compat option (-br). This option is ignored, but will no longer prevent the server from starting on systems that assume the option is always supported (Suse).
- package naming change. Packages that do not already include the machine architecture (Solaris for now) as part of the package name, now do. RPM already does this, so no change there.
- Use remap_pfn_range() rather than depricated remap_page_range() - correct bug that could cause incorrect flags to be set for an allocated page - fix solaris 10 nastygram regarding use of hat_getkpfnum() (a depricated interface) - Intel 915 support - added some installation support for linux systems that are using 'udev'. - fixed xsvctest to report in MB/sec always, avoiding some overrun errors that could cause the estimated AGP GART bandwith to appear very low. Also, do not use x86 specific copy optimization anymore (uneeded anyway) to avoid problems with Operton/AMD64 systems. - intel fixup for i845 - for compaq i852 driver. - integrated powerpc support (linux).
