Solaris (i386/x86_64) HX ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/solaris/sls/
This version represents a major architectural rework of the Single Logical Screen (SLS) HX server. Note, OpenGL support is not yet available on these servers.
For Matrox: G450/G450MMS/G550 and certain Parhelia based cards, such as QID.
For ATI: Colorgraphic Xentera, Radeon R200 based cards, FireMV PCI and FireMV PCIe.
- Single Logical Screen (across multiple chips) - Multiple X11 screens per Chip Allowed - Mixed SLS and Multi-screen Allowed (some limitations) - All X11 screens & Monitor Outputs Hardware Accelerated - Powerful, Simple Graphical Configurator - "Hidden Pixel" Capability - Pixel "Voids" Capability - Mixed Monitor Resolutions (some limitations) - Rotate (any, all monitors) Option (some limitations) (Silver Editions) - "T" & "L" Monitor Configurations Allowed - Cursor Wrap, non-Wrap Controls - PCIe & 64-bit Platform Capability - Image Overlay Support (Silver editions) - XVideo Input Support (Silver Editions)
- new graphical configuration, allowing for a simpler and more powerful method of configuring screen layout, and the monitors within those screens.
- Configuration files are not backwards compatible with previous versions of the HX product, however, configuration has been simplified to make transitioning from previous versions easier.
- It is now easier to configure Accelerated-X using text Xsetup. Xsetup automatically detects your graphics card during the initial configuration.
- It is now simple to configure the arrangements of monitors and screens with graphical Xsetup. Graphical Xsetup provides an interactive interface for configuring monitor locations, and several predefined layouts for consistent and accurate configurations.
- Now, monitors with different resolutions can be configured with SLS/Xinerama screens (as supported by hardware).
- Support for rotation (90, 180, or 270 degrees) has been added to Silver Editions, as supported by hardware. Rotation of arbitrary monitors is also possible in SLS (Xinerma) configurations.
- New with this release, horizontal (1x4) Single Logical Screen (SLS) or Xinerma configurations are supported with Matrox QID adapters, using 2 to 4 of the QID's outputs. The individual monitors of the QID can also be configured as separate X11 screens (up to 4 per adapter), similar to multiscreen configurations often used with the Matrox G450MMS.
- much more flexibility in layouts is possible, for example Inverted-T configurations. Graphical Xsetup provides several built-in layouts to ease configuration of common screen and monitor layouts. See the layout button of the 'Display' screen.
- Overall performance has greatly improved from previous versions of the HX product. Some of the most tangible performance improvements include: accelerated double-buffered applications, smoother window moves, and faster web browsing.
- New with this release, the XVideo extension has been added to the Silver edition and supports hardware accelerated video. A maximum of 6 synchronous video windows can be used simultaneously, depending on hardware capabilities. If the hardware supports it, video is also accelerated when monitors are rotated.
- both 32bit and 64bit architecture machines are supported with these packages. Previously 32bit and 64bit support was provided in separate Summit packages, at separate price points.
