=======================

Xi Graphics is pleased to announce the release of Version 2.4-9 of Accelerated-X Summit HX (SLS) for ATI chipsets.

The new servers can be found at:

     Linux (i386/x86_64) HX
     ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/linux/sls/

     Solaris (i386/x86_64/sparc) HX
     ftp://ftp.xig.com/pub/Summit/solaris/sls/

This version corrects several issues seen in the previous version.
Note, this release only concerns itself with HX-ATI.

Here are some brief release notes on 2.4-9:

- increase maximum supported Xv Adaptors (Codecs) to 8 (was 4) for
  each X11 Screen.

- fixup some incorrect PCI Ids in the Xprobe config file.

- ATI:

- correct issues with text restore on FireMV cards

- correct issue with using multiple FireMV cards in a system

- correct hard lock issue seen on some FireMV PCIe boards

  - integrate other general fixes that were made for the Matrox HX
    servers in 2.4-8 (see below).

- correct a ReadImage problem on FireMV boards.

- worked around another Redhat kernel problem that could cause the
appearance of an Xserver hang, incorrect rendering, and a variety of
other symptoms. These issues could be seen on RHEL 5.1, and
probably earlier RHEL versions (RHEL4 Update 6) using redhat
kernels. Stock 'vanilla' (kernel.org) kernels work fine.

- keyboard mapping fixes for Sun type 6 and type 7 German keyboards.

- fixed an issue that could cause hangs when using AGP devices.

- Significantly improved Sparc performance in certain operations.

- rework handling of digital monitors. Monitors that support scaling
can be configured and driven at non-native resolutions via a digital
DVI connection now. Previously, when a non-native resolution was
selected for a digital monitor, the server would fallback to an
analog timing, which would require that the monitor be reconnected
  via an analog cable.

Add support for 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 LCD monitors.

- update default fontpath on Linux systems to match the prevailing
  directory locations (usr/share/fonts, /usr/share/X11/fonts, etc).

- add support for NextWindow (www.nextwindow.com) USB Touchscreen
controllers under Solaris and Linux systems.

- Fix Xsetup shell script to look for an alternate XKeysymDB, which
is located in a different place on certain Linux systems.

- Fix coredump in graphical Xsetup when changing/selecting a device in
  certain circumstances.

- correct issue whereby a local unix socket might disappear after a
  server reset (Solaris).

- RENDER extension is accelerated on Sparc systems now (as well as
  AIX/Power).

Thank you for choosing Accelerated X!
