CF-18 Toughbook X Window System Support
The Summit CX Toughbook CF-18 support software package contains Xi Graphics'
Accelerated-X high-performance proprietary X server and graphics driver that are fully compliant with X Window System ("X") specifications for use with UNIX® operating systems. Included in the package is Xi Graphics' own OpenGL hardware-accelerated rendering library that is high-performance, and fully compliant with OpenGL v1.5.

Description of S/W Features/Capabilities

Rendering - Both 2D and OpenGL support is included, and are high-performance. OpenGL is supported to v1.5, with additional OGL Extensions available as options. X server and graphics driver are X11R6.4 compliant with additional support for some non-standard extensions, such as Render.

Rotate - Hardware-accelerated rotation of the xscreen image is available as an optional feature for this Toughbook - 90 deg. for portrait, or 180 deg. for tablet

Touchscreen - The embedded touchscreen controller is fully supported, including an highly accurate calibration utility. The touchscreen and touchpad are properly supported simultaneously. (The open source folks seem to have some problem getting both the touchscreen and touchpad working at the same time).

DualView - The use of an external monitor is supported. DualView will allow an image to be "stretched" across both the internal LCD and external monitor, creating a SingleLogicalScreen configuration, or two xscreens can be used, with each xscreen assigned to separate display devices.

Overlay Plane - Hardware-accelerated support for an 8-bit overlay plane is included, creating what is know as an 8+24 display.

Video Window - Incoming synchronous video can be displayed in a video window "on top of" the rendered 24-bit image.

Resolutions - The current CF-18 Toughbooks have 1024x768 panels, and can drive 1280x1024 external monitors. The CX Toughbook package suports both.
